T E M P T A T I O N part 2

As we continue with the topic of Temptation let us read in the book of James 1: 13, "Let not one say when he is tempted. "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone"

Some people think that it is God who tempts them, but we saw in the text that God does not tempt anyone nor can He be tempted.
The question then is; whos is tempting all of us and why?
Let us read what Matthew 4:1 It says, "Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil" Wow! This text tells us that it's the devil who tempts, and what is amazing to me is that no one seems to escape his temptations, the devil even tempted Jesus when He was in His human form.
Now, as an answer to the question of why the devil is so busy tempting people let us read 1-Peter 5:8 "Be sober, an vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour"
Yes, as we studied in our previous blog, that temptation once it is conceived in the heart, gives birth to sin, and sin to death, 1-Peter 5:8 confirms that the devil's intention is to destroy (devour) all of us.
What shall we do then? Well, I see three things we should do. One, be sober. Two, be vigilant. and three, Resist him. Verse 9 of 1-Peter 5 "Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world"
To be continue next week.
In the mean time, be sober, be vigilant, and resist the devil steadfast in the faith. Amen.
