Love Your Neighbor as Yourself
This is the second commandment, Jesus said. Are there only two commandments as many believe then? No, no, no.
What I think Jesus was doing when he talked about these two commandments was simplifying it so that they could understand it easier.
As we know the 10 commandments were written in two tables or tablets or stone, stone to show their perpetuity Matthew 5:17-19 and two tables because in the first there were the commandments to love and respect God such as: Not having other gods, not making images of thigs above or bellow, not taking the name of God in vain, and keeping and respecting his holy day, the seventh day of the week, the Sabbath, Saturday.
And in the second tablet of stone there are the things one must do to show respect and love to fellow neighbors such as: Honoring father and mother, not murdering, not committing adultery, not stealing, not bearing false witness, and not coveting the neighbors' things. Exodus 20:3-17
As we can see even if Jesus only said to love our neighbors, we well know that in order to love and respect a person one must not steal from him, nor murder him, etc.
Now, what about loving ourselves? Well there is what is called "The Golden Rule" Matthew 7:12 Do on to others that which you wish to be done to you, or the opposite, don't to on to others that which you wish not to be done to you.
